Mathematical Olympiads: Email of 2017-01-25 (new students)

SUBJECT: [TT] Last Introductory Training Sessions

We have two more sessions to go. With both sessions there are some problems, so that we will be missing some students:

• Thursday is Australia Day ... this means the Building will be shut up and I will need to let you in. If you don't have other plans, please come to the top of the stairs of Building 314. If you are a little bit late, or early, just ring my office phone: 9266 3482 and I will come out and let you in. (Parking will actually be easier because of the holiday.)
• Tuesday, 31 January ... some of the private schools start their school term on this day, and so will be missing.

Please come to these last sessions which will be on Number Theory, if you can. I'll try to put together some mini i-lectures for those who can't make it. (The mini i-lectures actually finish at the topics of yesterday's session.)

I'll send another email about joining the other sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays, next week, but the sessions until 13 Feb. will concentrate on AMO preparation (the AMO is on 14 and 15 Feb.). So you may prefer to join the sessions after that, when I can bring the level down to one that new students can cope with. (The AMT will have an embargo on discussing AMO 2017 for 3-4 weeks. When I am allowed to talk about the AMO, I'll tend to just do one question at a time, and work up to it in a session, so new students are not totally lost.)
