Mathematical Olympiads: Email of 2017-02-06 to new students

SUBJECT: [TT] Monday or Wednesday Training Sessions

Now that the introductory sessions are over, I am inviting you to join either the Monday or Wednesday sessions. The idea is that the Monday sessions at Curtin should be more accessible to those who live/(go to school) south of the river, and the ones at UWA should be more accessible to those who live/(go to school) north of the river.

As I said in the last email, sessions up until Monday 13 Feb. will concentrate on AMO preparation (where the AMO is on 14 and 15 Feb.).

So my suggestion is that you should probably wait until 20 Feb. at Curtin or 15 Feb. at UWA, before joining the sessions, and if you missed the introductory sessions then you really must read the chapters of notes for which there are mini i-lectures *and* view those accompanying mini i-lectures at:

I intend to re-do the Chapter 5 i-lectures for which the sound is very low, and hope to also add some Number Theory i-lectures. The good news is that I have identified what the problem was that caused the cessation of my production of i-lectures. It was entirely a software issue which I'm hoping will be fixed later today.

Now let me give you directions for the sessions:

• At Curtin, the sessions are on Mondays 4:30-6:30pm in the Maths Boardroom where the introductory sessions were held. Directions for those who misses these (once they have caught up as above) are at:

• At UWA, the sessions are on Wednesdays 5:00-7:30pm (the apparent extra half hour is to accommodate students who can't get to the venue until 5:30pm). Since our usual venue will not be available until March, the remaining February sessions (8, 15, 22 Feb.) will be in the G16 Lecture Theatre of the Robert Street Building, with directions here:
