Sorry, I didn't get the key for the Monday holiday, though I'm not sure that I would have been allowed to have it. So, alas, Monday 1 June at Perth Mod is cancelled, but is certainly running on Monday 8 June.
What about UWA you ask? This was what I received on Thursday:
I have heard back from our Recovery Management Team. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to recommence your Olympiad classes yet.For next semester, starting end of July, classes can only operate under distancing restrictions, which for Blakers Lecture Theatre restricts to a maximum of 20 people. I'm not hopeful of getting the sessions back anytime this year, but I have not relinquished the booking.“UWA is operating under the State Emergency Act at present and therefore an event at a university that involves members of community in addition to staff is taken to be unnecessary for the normal business of the facility and therefore not allowed.”No timeline is given as to when the above restrictions will be eased.
Anyway, I will continue to record mini i-lectures on Tuesdays. Last Tuesday, we recorded mini i-lectures for:
I had planned that we would do SMC 2013 on Monday, before realising it was a holiday and didn't have the key. It's also, in place on the Olympiad site. In fact all previous Senior Contests are now listed (and linked to a PDF) at the bottom of the page.
By what I wrote in the last email, the next Tuesday recordings planned are for:
The exercise of doing mini i-lectures and also to-fro correspondence with new students doing problems from problem sets has shown up some short-comings of the Toolchest Notes. So there will probably be a revision of these notes put in place sometime in June, and since the proof of the Rational Zero Theorem is not that hard, and my Curtin student is keen on knowing something about synthetic division, i-lectures on these topics may also get done as soon as next Tuesday.
As I keep saying, if you want to see something else or want me to re-prioritise ... please, just send me an email.
