The Phill Schultz PrizeThe Phill Schultz Prize was awarded for the first time in 2000. It is presented at the awards ceremony of the WA Junior Mathematics Olympiad (WAJO). This prize is awarded to the high school student who, in the opinion of the WA Mathematical Olympiads Committee, has demonstrated the most outstanding performance in Mathematics Challenge activities such as Mathematical Olympiads and other competitions during the year. The first recipient of the Phill Schultz Prize was Peter McNamara, a Year 11 student from Hale School. In year 2000, Peter won gold medals at the Australian Mathematics Olympiad (AMO) and the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). His performances at the Australian Mathematics Competition, the Asian Pacific Mathematics Olympiad (APMO) and the Tournament of the Towns Competition were outstanding.
